3D models and enclosures
Design 3D-printable enclosures, brackets, and mounts that fit your board, preview them, and export to STL for printing.
Morbium's fabricator designs 3D models: enclosures, brackets, mounts, knobs, and panels. It can read your board's real dimensions so the part fits, and it exports to STL for any slicer or printer.
Design a part
Describe the part you want. If you already have a board in the project, mention it so the model fits:
Design a 3D-printable enclosure for this board with a cutout for the
USB-C connector and screw bosses in the corners.
The fabricator reads the board's outline, thickness, mounting holes, connectors, and the height of each component, then builds a model around it. Models are saved in your project under .morbium/fabrication, in millimeters.
Two ways to model
The fabricator prefers a structured design for common shapes like boxes, lids, brackets, and standoffs. This is reliable and easy to tweak: you can ask for a wall thickness change or a different lid style and it regenerates cleanly.
For organic or unusual shapes that a structured design cannot express, it can drop down to freeform modeling. You do not have to choose; the fabricator picks the right approach for what you asked.
Preview and refine
When a model is ready, the Fabricate tab opens with a 3D viewer. Orbit, pan, and zoom to inspect it. Morbium also checks the geometry as it builds, reporting the part count, size, and any warnings, so you are not left with a broken mesh.
Refine in plain language:
Make the walls 2mm, round the outer corners, and add vents on the top.
Export to STL
When you are happy, export the model to STL from the viewer. That file goes straight into your slicer and onto your printer.
Tips
- Give it the board. Fitting an enclosure to a board is far more accurate when the board exists in the project first.
- State tolerances. If you need a snug or loose fit, say so; the fabricator applies sensible clearances but will follow your lead.
- Iterate in small steps. Change one dimension at a time to keep the fit predictable.
