Project rules

Give Morbium standing instructions for a project with an AGENTS.md file, so every session follows your conventions.

Rules are standing instructions that Morbium follows in every session. Unlike a skill, which loads only when relevant, rules are always on. They are the place to record your conventions, your stack, and the things you always want done a certain way.

AGENTS.md

Put your rules in an AGENTS.md file at the root of your project:

Rules for this project:

          - This board targets JLCPCB assembly, so prefer parts in their basic library.
          - Always add test points for power and ground.
          - Firmware is Rust on an RP2040. Use the embassy framework.
          - Label every board with the project name and revision on the silkscreen.

Morbium reads this automatically and applies it to the whole session. Keep it short and specific; a focused list of rules works better than a long essay.

Global and project rules

  • A project AGENTS.md applies to that project.
  • A global rules file applies everywhere. Put shared conventions there and project-specific ones in each project.

Both are combined, with project rules taking precedence when they conflict.

Bringing in more files

You can point to extra instruction files from your config with the instructions key, so a rule set can live in its own file or be shared across projects:

{
            "instructions": ["./docs/hardware-standards.md"]
          }

If you already keep an AGENTS.md for other AI tools, Morbium uses it, so you do not have to duplicate your conventions.

Next steps

  • Skills: on-demand instructions for specific tasks.
  • Config: adding instruction files.
