Skills
Skills are packaged instructions an agent loads for a specific task. Morbium ships hardware skills and lets you add your own.
A skill is a reusable set of instructions an agent loads when it needs to do a particular kind of task. Skills keep expert knowledge out of the main prompt and pull it in only when relevant.
Built-in skills
Morbium ships skills that power its hardware work:
- circuit-design teaches the board designer how to lay out circuits, choose footprints, and wire common subsystems. It loads for the board agent.
- fabrication-design teaches the fabricator how to model enclosures and parts, including fit and tolerances. It loads for the fabricator.
- customize-morbium is the reference for editing your config, agents, commands, and more. It loads when you ask Morbium to change its own setup.
These load automatically for the right agent, so you rarely think about them.
Add your own
Create a skill by adding a folder with a SKILL.md file:
.morbium/skills/my-skill/SKILL.md
The file starts with frontmatter naming the skill and describing when to use it, followed by the instructions:
---
name: my-skill
description: How to format our team's board silkscreen labels
---
Always label the board with the project name and revision in the
bottom-right corner, 1mm text, on the silkscreen layer.
The description is what the agent uses to decide when the skill is relevant, so make it specific.
Where skills come from
Morbium loads skills from:
.morbium/skills/in your project, and~/.config/morbium/skills/globally.- Any paths or URLs you list under
skillsin your config. - Shared skill folders like
~/.claude/skillsand~/.agents/skills, so skills you already have work here too.
